§ 66-223. Application for water service.

  • (a)

    Initial application. Any consumer or developer desiring to be provided water services through the city's water lines shall make an application for water services in person at city hall. The owner of the property or structure to be served is responsible for the application.

    (b)

    Line availability. If the water distribution system includes a water line adjacent to, or directly across the road from, the consumer's property, and no water line extension is required, service will be provided upon the customer executing a service contract and paying the required service connection fee and meter installation fee.

    (c)

    Enlargement of water lines; costs. If the city determines that it is in the best interest of the city to enlarge the water lines and water system facilities from the owner/developer's property line to the water system facilities, the owner/developer will be responsible for 100 percent of the costs for the increased size of water line and water facilities.

    (d)

    Installation list. Upon complying with subsections (a) and (b) of this section, the consumer will be placed on the meter installation list. The connection and the meter will be installed by the city, or its agent, as soon as practicable thereafter.
